It is INDIA`S first power project built on ash pond. More than 66000 ston piles were driven, which are not required in a conventional project.
In ash pond, ash is dumped over ground usually upto a height of 3 to 12 m . Due  to its fine ,non plastic and loose nature , it is prone to liquefaction in earth quakes .
Anapara d plant falls under seismic zone lll ,thus there were even greater challenges to make the project on ash pond .
